Happy Solemnity of St. Joseph!  I was praying morning prayer and thought the closing prayer was a powerful reminder for those in ministry.
Closing Prayer:
Almighty God, at the beginning of your plan to save the human race you entrusted your Son to Joseph’s care.
By his intercession may your Church
be a constant faithful guardian of your saving mysteries.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.   Amen.

Here are 2 thoughts:

1) If “at the beginning of [God’s] plan to save the human race” the Son of God     was entrusted to Joseph’s care, then we also should entrust families, especially fathers, to St. Joseph so that through his intercession the Christian family may be strengthened and renewed.  The more faith-filled the families in our programs are the more fruitful our religious education programs will be.

2)The other inspiration I had was from the later part of the prayer: “By his intercession may your Church be a constant faithful guardian of your saving mysteries.”  St. Joseph was entrusted with the Son to be his guardian and Christ gave the Church the saving mysteries of the Kingdom to guard and to hand on.  Our work in this ministry of catechesis should be constantly entrusted to  St. Joseph so that we, like St. Joseph, can faithfully hand on to our students the mysteries of the Faith.  We need to constantly implore God and His saints to be grace-filled and faithful instruments.

May St. Joseph be a constant inspiration and reminder that our role is to be open to God’s will and ready to respond to it as it unfolds.  Even though we are in the thick of Lent, this solemnity reminds us of the immense joy and hope we have been promised by God for those who seek Him!
